CRISP ORANGE COOKIES

  • 1 cup butter
  • 1½ cups sifted confectioners' sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 tablespoon grated orange rind
  • 1 egg, unbeaten
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add vanilla, orange rind, and egg; mix well. Add sifted dry ingredients and mix until blended. Drop from a teaspoon on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake at 375° for about 8 minutes or until delicately browned. Sprinkle lightly with confectioners' sugar.
