- 1½ cups sifted all-purpose
flour
- ½ cup sugar
- ¼ teaspoon salt

- 2 teaspoons instant coffee
- 1 cup butter or margarine
- ¾ cup walnuts, coarsely
chopped

Sift together flour, sugar, salt, and instant coffee. Cut in
the butter as for pie with pastry blender or two knives, until
size of small peas. Press dough together. Pinch off small pieces,
shape into balls, as for large marbles. Roll in chopped walnuts.
Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets; flatten with
bottom of glass dipped in sugar. Place in 300° preheated
oven about 20 minutes, or until edges are very lightly browned.
Cool slightly. Remove to wire rack. Cool thoroughly before storing.
