- ¾ cup shortening
- ¾ cup sugar
- 1 egg, unbeaten
- ½ cup molasses
- 2½ cups sifted all-purpose
flour
- 1½ teaspoons baking soda

- ½ teaspoon ginger
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 16-ounce package (1 cup) semisweet
chocolate pieces
- ½ cup chopped walnuts

Cream shortening and sugar until fluffy. Beat in egg and molasses.
Mix and sift flour, baking soda, and spices; add. Mix well. Stir
in semisweet chocolate pieces and walnuts. Drop by teaspoonfuls
on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake at 375° for 10 to 12 minutes.
Makes about five dozen cookies. |
