Alec reveals to Bond that his motive is personal. He wants revenge against the UK, which he blames for the death of his parents. He targets London with the second EMP, gloating that in sixteen minutes, "the United Kingdom will re-enter the Stone Age."

After Natalya attacks him, Boris inadvertently picks up Bond's grenade pen, which Alec had confiscated. Trying to reprogram the system that Natalya has hacked, Boris nervously clicks the pen, and it eventually explodes, allowing Bond and Natalya to escape.

Boris is rather taken with himself, and repeatedly exclaims, "I AM INVINCIBLE!" He repeats this claim one last time when he survives the giant explosion that destroys the Janus base ... just moments before several canisters of liquid nitrogen explode, freezing him solid.
