Bond attempts to use Oddjob's own hat against him but misses, causing it to get stuck between a pair of metal bars. When Oddjob tries to retrieve his hat, Bond grabs a live wire that had been previously severed by the hat and thrusts the open end onto the bars. The electric current transfers to the bars and then to the metal in the hat's rim, which electrocutes Oddjob.

Bond flies off to meet the President of the United States but finds that Goldfinger has hijacked the plane and plans to kill him.

In a struggle for Goldfinger's revolver, the gun fires, shooting out a window, creating an explosive decompression. Goldfinger is sucked out of the plane through the ruptured window. As the plane goes down, Bond and Miss Galore parachute to safety. A search helicopter passes, but Bond declares "this is no time to be rescued," and draws the parachute over himself and Galore.
