On March 5, 1963, country music stars Patsy Cline, Cowboy Copas, and Hawkshaw Hawkins were killed in an airplane crash near Camden, Tennessee. The owner and pilot of the aircraft, Patsy Cline's manager and the son-in-law of Cowboy Copas, was an inexperienced pilot with a total flight time of just 160 hours.

In October 1952, just a few months before his death, Williams married fellow singer Billie Jean Jones, who he met through her then-boyfriend, singer Faron Young. A year later, Billie Jean married another country star, Johnny Horton. After Horton's death in 1959, Billie Jean briefly dated Johnny Cash.

On March 10, 2003, during a London concert, nine days before the 2003 invasion of Iraq, lead vocalist Natalie Maines told the audience: "We don't want this war, this violence, and we're ashamed that the President of the United States (George W. Bush) is from Texas," which garnered a positive reaction from the British audience but led to public protests and boycotts in the United States.

He traditionally began his concerts by simply introducing himself, "Hello, I'm Johnny Cash," followed by his signature song "Folsom Prison Blues". The song combines elements from two popular folk styles, the train song and the prison song, both of which Cash continued to use for the rest of his career.

At age 13, Cline was hospitalized with a throat infection and rheumatic fever. Speaking of the incident in 1957 she said, "The fever affected my throat and when I recovered I had this booming voice like Kate Smith's."

Reba made her acting debut as Heather Gummer in Tremors, a film in which Bacon also starred.
