He got his nickname "The Boss" after forming the E Street Band in the 1970s as he was tasked with collecting the band's fee from club owners and distributing it amongst the band.

"Dancing in the Dark" was the biggest of seven hit singles from Born in the U.S.A., peaking at No. 2 on the Billboard singles chart. The video featured a young Courteney Cox dancing on stage with Springsteen, which helped launch her career.

When Springsteen met Joey Ramone in Asbury Park, New Jersey, Ramone asked him to write a song for The Ramones. Springsteen composed "Hungry Heart" that night, but decided to keep it for himself on the advice of his producer and manager, Jon Landau.

Long before he became famous, Bruce Springsteen was caught climbing over the Graceland fence by Harold Lloyd, Elvis' first cousin and a security officer working nights at the mansion. Elvis was not home, and Springsteen was promptly escorted off the property.

Springsteen's last name is of Dutch origin, literally translating to "jumping stone" but more generally meaning a kind of stone used as a stepping stone in unpaved streets or between two houses.

In May 1977, Springsteen went to an Elvis Presley concert in Philadelphia. A few days later Bruce wrote "Fire" and sent a demo of the song to Presley, hoping he might cover it. Unfortunately, Presley died before he could hear it, but the song was eventually recorded by the Pointer Sisters in 1979 and hit No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100.
