After joining the Blues for the 2011-12 season, Brian Elliott revitalized his career, posting a 23-10-4 record while sporting a 1.56 GAA and recording a franchise-record 9 shutouts. After taking over for the injured Jaroslav Halák during the first round of the 2012 Stanley Cup playoffs, Elliott led the Blues to a series victory over the San Jose Sharks before ultimately being swept in round two by the eventual Stanley Cup champion Los Angeles Kings.

Bob Gassof played four seasons for the St. Louis Blues. On Memorial Day weekend 1977, he and his pregnant wife, Diane, were invited to a postseason barbecue at teammate Garry Unger's 200-acre farm near Gray Summit, Missouri. Gassoff, who had been drinking and was not wearing a helmet, joined several others in riding motorcycles around the property. While making a short run down a hill, he collided head-on with a car and was killed instantly. His #3 jersey was subsequently retired by the Blues.

Steve Durbano, nicknamed "Mental Case", is the all-time leader in penalty minutes per game in the National Hockey League, with 1127 career PIMs over a mere 220 games played, for 5.12 PIMs per game. On February 7, 1981, he was arrested at Toronto International Airport when the Royal Canadian Mounted Police seized about 474 grams of cocaine, estimated by police to be worth about $71,000. Durbano was convicted for cocaine smuggling and was sentenced to seven years in prison. He later admitted to using cocaine regularly while playing in the NHL.

In 1990-91, Adam Oates set a Blues record with 90 assists, helping teammate Brett Hull score 86 goals, the third highest single-season total in NHL history.

Barclay Plager and Bob Plager are the only pair of brothers to have coached the Blues. Barclay (40-85-27) coached one full season and later served as interim coach, while Bob (4-6-1) coached for eleven games.

In his first season with the Blues (1999-00), Roman Turek set a franchise record with 42 wins, topped the league with seven shutouts, and won the William M. Jennings Trophy for allowing the fewest goals during the regular season.

Defenseman Erik Johnson was drafted by the St. Louis Blues with the first overall pick of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. He spent 2½ seasons with the Blues before being traded to the Colorado Avalanche. On February 29, 2020, Johnson became the 1st defenseman from the 2006 draft to reach 300 points.

In 1994-95, Ian Laperriere played 37 games for the blues, making 13 goals on 53 shots. His 24.5% shooting percentage is a franchise record.

Right winger Wayne Babych was drafted 3rd overall by St. Louis in the 1978 NHL Amateur Draft. In 1980-81, he led the team with 54 goals.

Left winger Larry Keenan scored the first-ever goal in St. Louis Blues history on October 11, 1967 against Minnesota North Stars' goalie Cesare Maniago.
